Nude: Masterpieces from TATE

Summer is coming. Kaohsiung city welcomes his friend TATE museum from London for the exhibition, Nude: Masterpieces from TATE. The show already starts on July 14th and it is regarded as the most expectant show this summer.

It is the very first time that Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts collaborates directly with TATE. With over 120 pieces of collection works, the exhibition also brings various types of works, like oil, sculptures, photographs, and works on paper. From the 18th century to present days, the exhibiting works explore the changing of the body in the different period. It shows how the body means and represents from historical myths to modernism. The show has exhibited at New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, and Japan. Now it arrives its last stop in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The highlight in this exhibition is Auguste Rodin's "Kiss". The sculpture is one of the most famous and classic works of Auguste Rodin. Taiwan viewer will see the original version made of marble and it is the first time showing in Taiwan.

Pierre Bonnard's "Nude in the bath" was scheduled to return to London after the end of the exhibition in Japan. With the effort of Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts and Tate Museum, not only Pierre Bonnard's works will be exhibited as scheduled, but also adds another piece of work. In addition, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts plans a special exhibition area for Pierre Bonnard. Unfortunately, his works will exhibit until September, then they will be sent back to London.

Of course, besides we just mentioned above, this exhibition includes many world-renowned artists, such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Henry Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Henry Spencer Moore, Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning.

Masters show in Taiwan public museum for the first time includes Lucian Michael Freud, David. Hockney, Louise Bourgeois, and Tracey Emin.

Last but not least, to promote "Nude: Masterpieces from TATE", Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts arrange various activities such as lectures, music concerts, body sketch classes, printing workshop, and dancing classes. The exhibition will end on October 28th, and if you don't have any plan yet this summer, just take a trip to Kaohsiung and appreciate these masterpieces!
